Other reviews of Sex At Risk
Overall, this book is competently
written, carefully and logically presenting the evidence for Brody’s central
argument about the risk of acquiring AIDS for heterosexuals living in industrialized
countries......
As a plus, there are glints of
sardonic humour throughout the book.....
Another positive aspect of the
book is Brody’s careful discussion of methodological concerns in conducting
sex research, particularly regarding the use of self-report.....
A major strength of this book is
Brody’s enthusiasm for challenging orthodox views. His succinct indictment
of people who have conflated politics and science in setting AIDS policy
over the past 15 years is important reading for anyone concerned about
the application of scientific knowledge and the politicalization of sex
research and education........

Behavior, February 2001.
"A recommended book for all academic
and research libraries" -- AIDS Book Review Journal, April 1999.
"...it was apparent that this was
a serious, scholarly work with the intention of showing that penile-vaginal
intercourse has been erroneously presumed to be higher risk for HIV transmission
than is the case, a welcome and useful premise....Some fascinating details
appear throughout......the author's inferences about the actual risk of
HIV transmission through penile-vaginal transmission appear sound......I
recommend this book as a source for enlightened debate".

American Medical Association, March 25, 1998 (see also November 4,
1998 issue).
"'Now No One is Safe from AIDS',
boomed the cover of Life magazine over 10 years ago. Meanwhile,
President Reagan's head of Health and Human Services said we faced a pandemic
that will make the plague seem 'pale by comparison', while President Clinton's
said that after AIDS has cut its swath, 'there may not be any of us left'.
It was nonsense then, it is now, and it always will be. Stuart Brody has
amassed an incredible amount of data that will bust through the wall of
myths and slogans the AIDS alarmists have built".

American Enterprise Institute; author, The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS,
Science Under Siege.
